Light can be welcomed or resisted

Doctrine Concept

The passage concerns our response to Christ and the exposure of our deeds—not an arbitrary preference for one color or feeling.

Primary sources

John 3:20 describes the response to the light:

John connects refusal of the light with fear that evil deeds will be exposed.

For everyone who does evil hates the light and doesn’t come to the light, lest his works would be exposed.
