God’s love precedes our response

Doctrine Concept

The OCA’s account grounds human love in God’s prior love, revealed through Christ and the Holy Spirit. The app’s controls are not a mechanism by which a person saves himself. Isaac’s prayers ask God for the grace of repentance; Matthew 25 connects love with concrete care for others.

Scripture

Primary sources

Hopko states the priority of divine love:

Hopko grounds human love in God’s prior love.
