High Place
The High Place lies behind the Holy Table at the liturgical east. In cathedrals and some larger churches it includes the bishop's seat, with seats for the clergy; a parish need not have a full set of these seats.

- Despite its title and apostolic speaking voices, this is a fourth-century pseudonymous compilation, not an eyewitness architectural instruction written by the apostles or Clement of Rome. Its instructions, including social seating divisions, describe a prescriptive ideal rather than universal practice.
