Union of Utrecht
About this date: 1889 marks the Union's formation, not the beginning of every member church; the Dutch church had a longer independent history.
Old Catholic bishops from the Netherlands, Germany, and Switzerland established the Union of Utrecht. Their agreement linked episcopal churches in communion while preserving their distinct local life.
