The enduring Creator and the Son

Jesus Prophecy Tracker · Source review: 2026-10-07

Hebrews applies the psalm's praise of God's enduring creative power to the Son.

Historical context

An afflicted petitioner laments his fragile life and prays for Zion's restoration. Against human and cosmic transience, he confesses that God founded the earth and remains unchanged when creation wears out.

Tradition note

Read the unity of Scripture in Christ while attending to the Old Testament's literal setting and the New Testament's use of it. Fulfillment can include a renewed historical pattern, not only an isolated prediction; this collection is a study guide rather than an exhaustive doctrinal catalogue.

Avoid overclaiming

The original prayer addresses God and is not a dated prediction of an ascension event. Hebrews includes it in its argument about the Son's identity. This map places that later Christological argument with exaltation without suggesting that Jesus first became Creator at his ascension. Verse numbers differ in editions counting the superscription.
