The enduring Davidic promises and resurrection

Jesus Prophecy Tracker · Source review: 2026-10-07

Paul cites Isaiah's enduring Davidic promises in his proclamation that God raised Jesus without abandonment to decay.

Historical context

An invitation to receive God's abundant provision urges the hearers to listen and live. God offers an enduring covenant associated with the reliable mercies promised to David and a widened horizon involving the nations.

Perspective note

Comparative historical/source study. The original author's or church's reception is retained; inclusion does not make every claim Oriental Orthodox teaching.

Tradition note

Oriental Orthodox study: the eternal Word and life-giving Spirit are confessed within Nicene faith. These passage connections distinguish original context, New Testament use and later Christian interpretation. Historical witnesses retain their own church reception; a proposed interpretation is not automatically a universal Oriental teaching.

Avoid overclaiming

Isaiah addresses a community with covenant promises, not an explicit description of a tomb opening on a particular date. Acts reads those promises through Jesus' resurrection alongside Psalm 16. The related Psalm 16 study remains separate evidence within Paul's argument, rather than being counted again as a new passage.
