Scripture

Primary sources

During worship and fasting, the Spirit says:

Acts directly depicts Barnabas and Saul being set apart for mission from the church at Antioch.

Now there were in the church at Antioch prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Symeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen who was a close friend of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”

— Acts of the Apostles (canonical text), Acts of the Apostles (Chapter 13, Verse 1-2), trans. New American Bible, Revised Edition (NABRE)

Passage context and translation
